Colleagues, we are excited to share great news — the line of polymer coatings and sealants developed by NPO Bronya has received a Type Approval Certificate from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS). The certificate officially confirms that the materials comply with the strict requirements of the maritime industry and navigation safety standards, opening opportunities for the use of these products in civil and specialized shipbuilding, offshore platforms, and shelf facilities.
The approval covers systems intended for use in Class “A”, “B”, and “C” structures. In particular, the certificate includes the following products: “Bronya TermoHydroPlast” — a liquid thermal and waterproof insulation coating with a thermal conductivity coefficient of 0.005–0.009 W/m·°C, and “Bronya VibroHydroPlast” — a vibration-damping and soundproofing coating.
Testing carried out as part of the certification process confirmed the high performance characteristics of the materials. With a coating thickness of only 0.5 mm, the sound absorption of “Bronya TermoHydroPlast” reaches 4 dB, while the sound insulation performance of “Bronya VibroHydroPlast” reaches up to 8 dB. Adhesion to steel is at least 1.3 MPa, and the coating film demonstrates resistance to static water exposure for no less than 168 hours.
The certified coatings of the “Bronya AquaBlock” series are liquid synthetic rubber-based compounds applied in liquid form. After curing, they create a seamless elastic protective layer that provides comprehensive structural protection. Under the obtained approval, the materials are intended for sealing structural elements, waterproofing deck surfaces, anti-corrosion protection of metal structures, vibration damping and sound insulation of hull structures, as well as thermal insulation and sealing of joints and seams.
The RMRS certificate includes the following modifications: “Bronya AquaBlock Expert”, “Bronya AquaBlock Prism”, “Bronya AquaBlock Prism Pro”, “Bronya Metal Elastic”, “Bronya TermoHydroPlast”, “Bronya VibroHydroPlast”, “Bronya FireAquaBlock”, and “Bronya FireAquaBlock Pro”.
Alexander Boyarintsev, Head of NPO Bronya, commented:
“Receiving this level of approval from the Maritime Register for our rubber-based products is a sign of strong confidence in the quality of our solutions. Ship designers and shipbuilding enterprises can now officially include Bronya coatings in their specifications for a wide range of tasks, including reducing structural weight while maintaining usable volume.
I would also like to highlight part of our shipbuilding instruction manual, approved and endorsed by leading профильные institutes, design bureaus, and shipyards, describing the application of our patented system of non-combustible ultra-thin thermal insulation materials ‘Bronya’ on composite substrates — carbon fiber, Kevlar, and other polymer materials — for marine thermal insulation and fire protection. In this system, the rubber-based ‘Bronya’ coatings are an essential part of the integrated solution.
Today, such a solution effectively has no analogues in the world, and it has now been officially approved by the Maritime Register.”
