Our dealer in Nizhny Novgorod has successfully completed a large-scale project regarding the internal anti-corrosion protection of additional metal cisterns for a long-standing client. These tanks are intended for the sale and subsequent storage of industrial water. This project was distinguished by its challenging conditions and the strict safety measures required when working with these innovative compounds.
The focus of this publication is on two massive tanks. After a two-layer application, the total dry film thickness (DFT) on these objects reached 250 microns.
The Challenge A technical assessment was conducted prior to the start of work. Due to prolonged open-air storage without shelter and exposure to direct sunlight, the internal surfaces were deeply corroded—pitted so severely they looked as if they had been "blasted with buckshot," resulting in deep craters.
The client, a long-term partner of our dealer who values the team’s expertise, once again opted for a "turnkey" solution: material supply combined with professional application. Due to production constraints, the water could only be drained during the New Year holidays. Consequently, our professional crew worked through the festive period to ensure the facility's uninterrupted future operation.
The Process The work involved several stages:
- Sandblasting: To clean the metal, which was severely damaged by corrosion.
- First layer: Applied with a roller to ensure maximum adhesion of the material to the prepared surface.
- Second layer: Applied using an airless sprayer to create a perfectly smooth finish.
Safety Measures Special attention was paid to personnel safety during the project. While the rubber-based material offers excellent performance properties and is completely safe once dry, strict safety protocols are required during application due to the toxicity of the vapors.
All risks associated with working in confined spaces were accounted for:
- The specialists worked in full-face respirators (gas masks) to protect their vision and mucous membranes.
- Intensive forced ventilation was organized: fresh air was supplied directly through the tank neck, effectively neutralizing the risk of intoxication.
Dealer Commentary Our dealer commented on the project and the client relationship:
"This is not the first time the client has chosen 'Bronya Metal Elastic'; it has proven itself excellently on other facilities, such as gas holders and car washes.
Summarizing this project, we can say once again that a careful attitude toward employee health and uncompromising quality of technology are the keys to the longevity of industrial equipment."
